The OSG Framework: A Smarter Way to Build a Business You Actually Love

Business By Design

If you’ve been following along the past few weeks, (Building a Business on Your SVPs, Sustaining Your Success, and Leading with Your WHY) you know we’ve been talking about something big so it is important to solidify your plan to create a business you love. This is where many business owners hit a wall. They gain clarity on their reason, but they don’t know how to turn that into practical business strategies that lead to success. The OSG framework will guide you from awareness to a business structured for long-term growth.

OSG: Outcomes, Structure, and Growth

The OSG method is a simple process that allows the business owner to proactively shape their business in a way that aligns with their reason instead of constantly reacting to the day-to-day chaos. Take a step back and assess the outcomes, structure, and growth plan to tie your reason to the outcomes you truly desire. Build the right structures from the FUNdamental Formula to support your business, and create an actionable growth plan. It’s about developing your business with intention rather than feeling stuck in a cycle of reacting to whatever comes next.

Clarifying Your Outcomes: What Does Success Look Like?

Before making changes, you have to know where you currently stand and where you want to go. Many business owners never take the time to define their outcomes, which means they end up stuck and working hard but not necessarily moving forward.

What are your current results? Are you hitting revenue goals but feeling burnt out? Do you have a steady flow of customers, but you’re constantly lowering prices just to compete? Maybe your business is technically successful, but it’s draining all your energy. If any of that sounds familiar, your current outcomes might not match your ideal outcomes.

The key is to define what success really looks like for you. Not based on what you’ve been told you should want, but based on what actually aligns with your reason. Maybe your goal is to maintain revenue while working fewer hours, or maybe it’s to increase your impact by expanding your offerings. Whatever it is, getting clear on it is the first step.

Building the Right Business Structure for Success

Once you’ve defined your desired outcomes, the next step is making sure your business structure supports those goals. This is where a lot of business owners struggle. They set big goals but keep running their business the same way—and wonder why they aren’t making progress. A big reason for that is not knowing where to start. There are always ways to improve your business so how do you know what to focus on first?

Your business structure includes everything from clarifying your reason, mastering your mindset, establishing a goal achieving plan, your pricing and offers to your policies, workflow, and daily tasks, accountability framework, and more. So it seems like a massive overwhelming project, but many times we find that small adjustments make the biggest impact. You just need to identify what is most out of alignment in your structure.

For example, let’s say you’re a service-based business owner who thrives on deep, one-on-one client relationships. But your current business model forces you to focus on high-volume, low-touch transactions just to stay profitable. That’s going to feel exhausting. Instead, shifting to higher-ticket, personalized offers might allow you to serve fewer clients at a deeper level—without burning out.

The same applies to product-based businesses. If you own a print shop, but the majority of your work is cheap, bulk orders with no creative input, you might feel disconnected from the work. If storytelling and brand-building excite you, shifting to high-value branding packages and custom creative projects would not only bring more fulfillment but likely higher profits as well.

It’s about adjusting your structure to match what actually lights you up. When your business model is built around your reason, everything becomes easier. You stop feeling like you have to constantly force things to work and start enjoying the process again.

Creating a Growth Plan That Feels Right for You

Armed with the knowledge of what structure to improve, you are then going to create a plan to improve it which will lead to growth. Growth isn’t just about getting bigger or making more sales. It is about aligning your business with a strategy that works for you. Too often, business owners get caught up chasing what worked for someone else, instead of figuring out what makes sense for them. That’s why so many people feel overwhelmed and frustrated when they try to scale while following 10X gurus and the hustle and grind culture.

Let’s say you want to scale your business, but you don’t want to take on more work. That doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck. Maybe the solution is leveraging automation, hiring help, or shifting to more profitable offers that require less effort but bring greater value.

If you’re feeling stuck, the key is to look for small but meaningful shifts that will make the biggest impact. Instead of thinking about what you should do based on outside advice, ask yourself: What feels right for me? What makes sense for my strengths, values, and passions? When your growth plan aligns expansion feels natural and not forced.

The Power of the OSG Framework in Action

One of the biggest reasons business owners feel overwhelmed is because they’re trying to run a business without a clear structure and growth plan. They’re constantly putting out fires, saying yes to everything, and working harder. Instead look to the FUNdamental Formula to experience less stress, more clarity, and better results.

I’ve seen this happen time and time again. Business owners who felt completely stuck restructured their offers, created better systems, and implemented a growth plan that finally gave them back their time. When you approach your business with intentionality, it stops feeling like a struggle. You create a structure that supports the life and business you actually want. And most importantly, you rediscover the passion that made you start in the first place.

Now that we’ve explored how Outcomes, Structure, and Growth fit together, the next step is figuring out where to focus first. I have mentioned the FUNdamental Formula and in the coming weeks, we are going to break down each section. In the meantime check out this Small Business Saturdays Episode where I break down the FUNdamental Formula.  Over the next 9 weeks, we will break down each section of the FUNdamental Formula, helping you pinpoint the exact changes that will create the biggest returns and realign your business with your reason.
