The FUNdamental Formula: Mindset Mastery

Pushing harder won’t help if you’re holding yourself back. That’s what most business owners don’t realize. They’re stomping on the gas while their emergency brake is still on. Self-doubt, hesitation, and second-guessing turn into constant friction. It drains energy and slows everything down. And most business owners won’t even consider going there because they would rather chase shiny objects, find some new high price strategy. They are not willing to admit the answer is right inside of them. Are you willing to dig deeper and master your mindset?

The next structure in the FUNdamental Formula is still part of our plant section. Getting all the internal ‘stuff’ in line first is crucial and this part of our structure can be powerful, yet difficult to shift. But the good news is the shifts are also simple and slight, with some intentionality, you can make these changes. That’s why shifting mindset isn’t just another task on the list. It’s the difference between spinning your wheels and getting somewhere.

The Business You Believe In vs. The One You Struggle With

Every business is built twice—first in your mind, then in reality. If the version in your head is filled with hesitation, that’s what shows up in daily operations. Pricing gets set too low. Marketing feels scattered. Customers aren’t the right fit. Everything feels harder than it should.

Now flip it. Picture a business where belief drives every decision. You trust the moves you are going to make even if you don’t know what they are yet. Pricing reflects real value. Marketing speaks with confidence. Customers recognize the worth. That business flows because hesitation isn’t getting in the way.

Rewriting the Inner Script

Before going out and trying to work on the external, like making your business look better, more professional, more valuable, and more confident, you need to focus on your internal story. What holds people back isn’t logical, it’s emotional. It’s shaped by experiences, failures, and the quiet doubts that have been reinforced over time. The brain collects data and builds a story:

  • I’m not good at selling.
  • Success takes years of struggle.
  • People won’t pay that much for my work.

While other people have played a part in feeding you that script, you had to believe it and you had to take some event as a sign that it was true. That script runs in the background, shaping every decision. But it’s not reality until you choose it to be your reality. For example, for years I had told myself that I was not good at pronouncing names, and when you host a podcast that can be difficult, but I’m no worse at pronouncing names than anyone else, it’s only when I choose that to be my story.  The story is the version that’s been repeated the most. The only way to change it is to introduce a different version that actually supports where you want to go and then choose that version to be true.

Upgrading Beliefs in Real Time

Most people try to think their way out of self-doubt, but belief is built through action. While it is a choice to choose a different story, talking about it won’t build that proof that you need to solidify it as your new story. Every time you take a step forward before you feel ready, you prove to yourself that you’re capable. The old script loses its grip.

  • Raising prices? The first “yes” from a customer rewires your confidence. And letting go of all “nos” as the truth that they were just not the right customer for you.
  • Trying a new strategy? Seeing it work overrides old fears.
  • Making a big decision? Trusting it leads to momentum.

The mistake is waiting for confidence before taking action. That’s not how it works. Confidence comes from doing, not from thinking about doing. It all starts with the language you use in both thoughts and conversation, as that is turning thoughts into action. Pay attention to how you talk about business. What you say reinforces what you believe.

Blaming: “People just don’t value quality anymore.” → (Reality: You haven’t positioned it in a way that connects.)

Complaining: “It’s impossible to get engagement on social media.” → (Reality: Others are making it work. What are they doing differently?)

Excuses: “I don’t have the resources to make this happen.” → (Reality: There’s always a way. What’s the next step?)

Words shape perception. Perception shapes action. And action shapes results.

The Fastest Way to Shift

Business gets easier when you believe you belong at the level you’re aiming for. That shift happens when you stop seeing success as something other people achieve and start acting like it’s already part of your reality.

  • Speak about your work like someone who knows it’s valuable.
  • Price your offers like someone who expects people to pay.
  • Show up in conversations as someone who knows they have something to offer.

That’s how alignment happens—not by waiting for permission, but by stepping into the version of yourself who is already there. This is not faking it until you make it as humans are smart and can smell a fraud. You have to be authentic. It’s leaning into what is actually true and assuming the world is conspiring for you, not against you. It is believing it until you achieve it.

Now that the mental brakes are off, it’s time to set real goals. Not vague ideas. Not “someday” plans. Actual targets with clear steps. That’s where we’re going next week, so stay tuned!
